Professor Cameron Hepburn set the scene on the pace of the climate transition and its materiality for investors. We were joined by climate finance leaders from banking, ESG leaders from public and private markets, standard setters and regulators.
The discussion was then grounded by two short case studies, which included a climate diligence on a mining services company and an analysis of how software companies are materially affected by the transition. These examples explored key questions, such as whether rigorous analysis really bears out claims that climate change is financially material for investors. Operating under the Chatham House Rule, the session was designed as a discussion rather than a lecture, encouraging all attendees to contribute their expertise.
